Accessibility Icons Slide Deck - How to Use
This deck shows a series of accessibility symbols and icons used in public spaces, on websites, and in everyday life. Each slide asks three questions:
Have you seen this symbol before?
What do you think it means?
Does it represent its meaning well?
Use one symbol at a time as a bell ringer, morning meeting opener, or discussion starter, or work through the full deck as a standalone activity. The questions are simple enough for younger students and open enough to drive real discussion with older ones.
This activity can be as simple or as deep as you want it to be. At minimum, show a symbol and let students respond. The speaker notes offer background on each symbol and what makes it worth examining.
